Mercy & Grace

While First Baptist Church of Port Townsend (established in 1889) is lightly affiliated with the American Baptist Convention, we are primarily a community church focused on infusing the community we love with the mercy and grace of the Kingdom of God through worship and outreach and service and celebration in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The FBC Constitution

The preamble of the Constitution of First Baptist Church of Port Townsend (FBC) says:

Witnessing to our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and in the spirit of love and cooperation with all others who have likewise identified with Jesus Christ and with His body on the earth, we adopt as the basic statement of our faith the following creed:

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.

The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
